Hey, I’m in my last year at Macquarie studying to be a primary teacher. I have similarly only recently found the world of twitter and the #edchat and #newedblog tags and their use. Do you know of any specific NSW online teacher communities. I have joined The Educators PLN and Classroom 2.0 on the Ning network which have great resources but I was looking for something more specific to NSW.
Best of luck with your SMARTboard endeavours. We had a few classes on how to construct learning objects and activities to do on them but I agree I found it very teacher centred. I have been thinking perhaps they are better used in smaller groups i.e. reading groups where 4-6 students could complete an activity together on them. They would be good to use on instruction of twitter, and other internet facilities however I guess that makes them a glorified projector.
Keep up the great work, Regards,

it looks like you are on the right track Josh – keep it up. Who knows you might even be a prac student in my class this year! I am a Maquarie master teacher and will have a final year student with me later this semester. I do not know of any specific NSW teacher communities, in fact it is a struggle to find that many NSW teachers on Twitter. The educators PLN and classroom 2.0 are great and i think that by starting with them you will find yourself drawn into to others. The problem I found last year in using an IWB for small group session was that the novelty of it meant that all the students wanted to take part, thus distracting the rest of the class. Hopefully that will settle down as they become less of a novelty.
have a great year
